My name’s Max, and I live with my human, Elsa, in this lovely little village with hills and trees everywhere. I’m an Affenpinscher, but everyone calls me the “Monkey Dog.” I guess it’s because I’ve got this wild, wiry fur and a face that makes people laugh. But I like being the center of attention, so it suits me just fine!
One evening, something strange happened. I was sniffing around near our old barn when I caught a scent. It wasn’t a squirrel or a rabbit—something different. I pressed my nose against the barn door and growled softly. I’m good at guarding things, you know. Elsa came over and asked me what was going on. I barked twice to let her know this was serious.
When she opened the door, there was this tiny, shivering thing—a baby fox! I’ve never seen one up close before, but it didn’t seem scary. It was just small and sad-looking, like it needed a friend. So, instead of barking or chasing it like I usually do with squirrels, I decided to sniff it. That’s how I get to know new friends.
Elsa must’ve been surprised because she didn’t scold me. She even picked up the little fox and took it inside. I followed her, wagging my tail the whole way. Inside, Elsa made a warm bed by the fireplace, and the baby fox snuggled right in. I sat next to it, keeping an eye on it. I think I made the fox feel safe.
Over the next few days, the baby fox got stronger. And guess what? It started playing with me! We’d chase each other around the yard, tumble in the grass, and share snacks. Elsa said I was being a “good boy,” and I liked hearing that.
So, yeah, that’s the story of how I, Max the “Monkey Dog,” made a new friend and saved the day. I’m not just the mischievous dog everyone thinks I am—I’ve got a big heart, too!
